Hello Sunil,
the Maintenance Mode shall prevent incompatible changes( like re-typing elements) and data loss (like deleting elements).
Therefore a simple query is not affected, but of course a Data Source query is.
Nevertheless you should follow Ludger Bünger suggestions.
